Love The Hot Seat
In the throes of a heated football season, ASU athletic
director Lisa Love invited The Times into her stadium office. First things first, Love will have you know there’s a lot more to running an athletics department than playing Monday morning quarterback.

For starters, she’d like to raise ASU’s athletic annual revenue from $38 million to $45 million. As director for the entire athletics staff at the nation’s largest university, Love manages 180 employees as well as ASU’s 500 student athletes.

Once a college volleyball all-star herself, Love quickly rose from a high school volleyball coach to NCAA Coach of the Year. She’s now one of only six female athletic directors at the 119 Division I NCAA football schools.
