This month our popular Open Door Policy feature steps back in time to showcase the rich history of Scottsdale. Welcome to the office where the Guggenheim was designed. Here, Frank Lloyd Wright, America’s most famous architect, spent his winters designing world-famous structures. Wright wintered at Taliesin West in Scottsdale from 1937 until he passed away in 1959.

Originally strictly a winter camp, the tents at Taliesin West slowly evolved into an organic structure of native rocks, angles and colors, inspired by the nearby mountains. In 1983, Taliesin West was adopted as a National Historic Landmark. The Frank Lloyd Wright Foundation still maintains the facility and offers guided tours.
